Earlier this week, we checked out Purpose Restoration's first open gallery show at the High Profile Productions studio. Jason Fox and Guy Ellis started Purpose Restoration about a year ago with a vision to restore dated or soon to be discarded furniture into one of a kind pieces that are artfully interesting and environmentally sustainable. Purpose Restoration puts a new spin on buying green by using and restoring all the parts from the original piece as well as using eco-friendly finishing products that are water based and low V.O.C.
"We like to be involved in finding the piece. We can see amazing potential for graphic art and cool furniture in the most boring and uninspired pieces," says Fox
Both Fox and Ellis were once graffiti artist and the graphic elements are apparent in their work.
Purpose Restoration takes commissions for home and commercial pieces. They will often mix different cultural-influences within a piece or use a piece's literal interpretation to drive the design. Prices range from $800 to $3000.
