Martha Argerich Plays Schumann With the L.A. Phil

Iconic pianist Martha Argerich parses the rolling passages of Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto with the L.A. Philharmonic. The piece's unfolding waves of melodies are perfectly suited for the veteran Argentine's passionate touch and nimble dexterity. Over an extensive career, Argerich has led her own Argerich Music Festival & Encounter in Japan and is widely considered one of the world's great performers on piano. Meanwhile, Slovakian conductor Juraj Valcuha dips into Benjamin Britten's Four Sea Interludes and summons forth the stirring magnificence of Richard Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.
