Read more about JR in "TED Award-Winning Street Artist JR Brings 'The Wrinkles of the City' to Los Angeles." For locations of "The Wrinkles of the City" pieces, see our Google map.
JR heads back downtown and stages his most inventive composition yet on 3rd and Hewitt. Working amidst disgruntled parking lot owners, cranky loft owners and random photographers looking to get in on the action, JR's day is always an interesting one.
Los Angeles is not exactly a favela in Brazil or war torn Liberia, both places JR has previously chosen to work, but LA presents its own urban dilemmas. The one he is addressing here with "The Wrinkles of the City" combats personal identity and image.
The second piece of the day starts to go up on all sides of the Poodle Parlour, a production warehouse space on Hunter and Santa Fe. You may not recognize it without the Pink Elephant or Brangelina. Yep, it's the old site of Banksy's landmark Barely Legal show in 2006.
You can find these pieces at the following locations:
808 E 3rd St Los Angeles, CA 90013 (E. 3rd Street and Hewitt)
2476 Hunter St. Los Angeles, CA 90021 (Hunter and S. Santa Fe Ave.)
