"Go Metro" at Highways Performance Space
Following up on last year’s well-received Bathroom Follies at Highways, choreographer Jamie Benson, fashion designer Andrae Gonzalo and their dancers explore, in a program of six dances, the seemingly irresistible human drive to get somewhere. The evening’s title is “Go Metro,” drawn from L.A.’s subway system — ironic considering the performance is on the Westside, which at best is decades away from any subway service. Still, getting to the show through crawling traffic on Olympic and Pico will provide opportunities to cut through those NIMBY neighborhoods which have stalled public-transit solutions. Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th St., Santa Monica; Fri.-Sat., May 23-24, 8:30 p.m.; $20, $15 students & seniors. (310) 315-1459 or www.highwaysperformance.org.
