Christmas comes early in Eat|See|Hear's presentation of Elf, following Buddy (Will Ferrell), the human raised by elves, as he finds his Scrooge of a biological father and teaches him the true meaning of Christmas. It's part of the Christmas in July celebration from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Paul Revere Middle School, along with holiday decorations, a Christmas tree and presents. Attendees can help out by participating in the canned-food drive or donating to the Best Friends Animal Society.
The "Hitchcock 9" screening series ends today with The Farmer's Wife and Blackmail at LACMA, but if that hasn't filled your quota of the acclaimed director, then you're in luck. The Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council presents a special outdoor screening and discussion of Psycho at 7 p.m. at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site. After hearing behind-the-scenes stories from screenwriter Joseph Stefano's widow, Marilyn, watch the film and Janet Leigh's iconic shower scene.
Also at 7 p.m. is a more joyful film: 1982's Annie. The orphan tries to make her hard-knock life happier, facing the conniving ways of Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett), Rooster Hannigan (Tim Curry) and Lily St. Regis (Bernadette Peters). See the cutest little redhead at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills.
