If you were one of the lucky few at the Santa Monica Civic on Oct. 29, 1964, you got to see a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience called the T.A.M.I. (Teenage Awards Music International) Show. James Brown and the Flames! The Rolling Stones! Chuck Berry! The Barbarians?! If you were one of the unlucky ones who missed it in the flesh, two weeks later it was in a theater near you. Tonight's screening of a 35mm print of The T.A.M.I. Show features director Steve Binder talking with John Landis (yes, the Blues Brothers director) about what it was like herding all those cats on that stage at that pivotal moment in time, which caught everyone at their best as everything was changing forever. After their nostalgia-soaked chat, you will for 123 minutes THRILL! to the sounds of The Beach Boys doing "Dance, Dance, Dance" and "I Get Around"! SHAKE! to The Supremes and Jan & Dean, doing "Baby Love" and "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena"! WONDER! if Mick Jagger ever picked up a map, looked up Pasadena and said, "So that's where it's at." What a weird bill this was. Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; Thu., Aug. 14, 7:30 p.m.; $11, $9 seniors/students, $7 members. (323) 466-3456, egyptiantheatrecalendar.com.
Thu., Aug. 14, 7:30 p.m., 2014 (Expired: 08/14/14)
