Songstress Inara George, the "bird" of electropop duo The Bird and the Bee, will play a special tribute show at the Largo honoring Mike Viola, the musician, songwriter and producer who penned many of the wonderfully hilarious songs in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
(he's also known for his pop-rock band, The Candy Butchers). "Unsung Heroes: A Celebration of Mike Viola," featuring Inara George & Very Special Guests, is the second in a three-part series at the Largo in which George pays tribute to her unsung heroes. "I have all these amazing songwriters in my life and it's great to be able to recognize people who, in my opinion, are underappreciated," she says. Plus: "It's a great way to be introduced to someone you might not know about or, if you already know them, to hear their music in a new way." In attendance will be The Living Sisters and mystery special guests - we're crossing our fingers John C. Reilly will take the stage, but we'd be satisfied just with George: She gives a beautiful live performance. The show benefits the Plastic Pollution Coalition, an organization committed to ending global dependence on single-use plastics. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., Beverly Grove; Wed., June 25, 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.); $30-$75. (310) 855-0350, largo-la.com.
