In his excellent 2010 documentary, I Am Comic, director and comedian Jordan Brady delved into the psyches of every comic worth his or her salted nuts, from current headliners Louis C.K., Sarah Silverman and Kathy Griffin to veterans Phyllis Diller, Roseanne Barr and Larry Miller, and all the lesser-known working stiffs in between. With retired comic Ritch Shydner along as narrator, Brady traveled cross country to lay out the often unfunny side of being a professional funnyman: writing jokes, stealing jokes, hecklers, gigs from hell and life on the road ("The room stunk like crack head sex"). It's the indignities of living in and out of clubs, hotels and airports that Brady further explores in his latest, I Am Road Comic, which features a new crop of interviews with Marc Maron, Maria Bamford and Doug Benson. Cinefamily screens the documentary during a live podcast of Benson's long-running Doug Loves Movies, which includes the filmmaker in person. Cinefamily, 611 N. Fairfax Ave., Fairfax District; Tue., June 24, 7:30 p.m.; $14. (323) 655-2510, cinefamily.org.
