If one didn't know any better, you would think the MGM Grand was being proposed and Abbot Kinney was being transformed into the Las Vegas Strip. This is a three-story structure with 68 rooms and 178 parking spots. Most people who will stay at such a property will taxi to and from LAX and the need for a car will be minimal like most beach venues. Not a single piece of viable data or evidence has been presented that grid lock will occur and these accusations are exaggerated and quite frankly, just not true. It's ironic no one has an issue with hundreds of absentee landlords renting out their properties on a short-term and long-term basis that absolutely effects street parking. Abbot Kinney could use a boutique hotel that will compliment the kind of retailers that populate the bustling and commerce positive venue. The fear being promoted is sad because if the hotel is rejected, what will be proposed instead? A professional building that will demand parking and more traffic at peak hours? Travelers, especially tourists arrive and leave at staggered times based on the original time zones they originated. This notion a 68-room, three-story structure will harm Abbot Kinney is just another example of the NIMBY theater of the absurd!
