Every so often a film comes along that's called "The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made." For many years it was Robot Monster; Troll 2 wore the crown more recently. The latest to shoulder this dubious honor is The Room. Some viewers were perplexed by its plot about a love triangle gone horribly wrong, while others were for years confronted by the intensity of The Room auteur Tommy Wiseau staring down at them from a billboard as they were stuck in northbound traffic on Highland Avenue. Greg Sestero, who played Mark in the film, appears tonight in a Book Soup-presented signing for The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made. Sestero, who has known Wiseau for years and went to acting school with him, tells all tonight. The presentation also includes a documentary on the making of The Room, with Wiseau in person. Ultimately, even if everyone calls you a terrible filmmaker, you still need friends. New Beverly Cinema, 7165 Beverly Blvd.; Tues., Oct. 1, 7 p.m.; $5 (free if you buy the book, which is $25.99).
