Want to fall head over heels for beautifully appointed words, caressed by the lips of the poets who composed them? Then run, don't walk, to the Red Hen Press Poetry Series, sponsored by L.A.'s largest independent literary publishing organization. The publisher brings only beyond-exceptional writers to the printed page -- or whatever gizmo readers ingest their words from these days. The nonprofit poetry series' mission is to support diversity and encourage literacy in the city's schools to help our community appreciate well-written words. Tonight is a testament to that as moderator and poet Brendan Constantine presents the poetry of three stellar voices. Kate Durbin, the founding editor of Gaga Stigmata: Critical Writings and Art About Lady Gaga, is a bit Gaga-esque herself, as evidenced by her street-savvy visual and verbal performance. The lower-key Hélène Cardona, meanwhile, draws listeners into her intimate tales of cosmic fantasy and magical worlds with a sweetly buoyant Parisian accent, while Eric Morago, a Pushcart Prize nominee, enlivens each and every word with fierce physicality. You're guaranteed to fall in love. Annenberg Community Beach House, 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica; Tues., Aug. 13, 6:30-8 p.m.; free but reservations required.
