If there's one thing you should take away from watching (or reading) the fantastic play The Vagina Monologues, it should be this: Eve Ensler does not shy away from talking about the female body. The playwright and author gets even more personal in her memoir, In the Body of the World, sharing not only her discovery of horrific, violent acts against women in the Republic of Congo but also her own struggle against uterine cancer. That medical battle ultimately helped her reconnect with her body, something the author hopes readers will do as well. "Our connection to the body," she states in a video about the book, "it will reveal the path of action to heal the earth, to heal poverty, to heal the desecration of the planet and to end violence." Ensler will discuss the powerful tome at All Saints Church in Pasadena as part of a Vroman's Bookstore event. No tickets required, but if you want Ensler to sign your copy, make sure to grab a ticket for the line when you arrive; to score grab a good seat, get there when doors open at 6 p.m. All Saints Church, 132 N.
