In 2006, a bunch of musicians decided it was time for classical music to go clubbing. So they got together at Revolution Café in San Francisco's Mission District and founded Classical Revolution, an organization dedicated to performing high-quality chamber music in non-traditional settings. The idea was so successful that today, Classical Revolution proudly boasts more than 30 chapters across the United States, Canada, and Europe, and we've got one right here in L.A. that's making chamber music cozy comfy in bars, clubs, coffee shops and other somewhat unexpected hangouts. You might have been there when the Tribal Café went into full wail with BITCH performing Villa-Lobos, Existential Crisis kicking butt with Barber, and Flutes of Troy samb'izzling. Or last week, when the Blue Rose Trio lit up the Library a Coffeehouse in Long Beach. This weekend, Classical Revolution: L.A. hits the Silverlake Lounge with a very happy hour lineup. Sit back and chillax with the supremely talented femmes of Ceora Winds, and the internationally acclaimed husband-and-wife team of saxophonist Michael Mortarotti and pianist Erika Tazawa, performing new music and original arrangements with flutist Sarah Robinson and special guests. Silverlake Louge, 2906 W. Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake.; Sat., Feb. 2, 6-8 p.m.; free, but donations appreciated. (213) 814-8597, classicalrevolutionla.org.
