This year's Thanksgiving Eve Turkey Crawl — the latest offering from the producers of the World's Greatest Pub Crawl — takes you through various bars of the greater metropolitan Hollywood area, and they're looking to break more drinking records this year in the name of civic pride and burst bladders. While the producers' encouragement to "Be prepared to dress up as your favorite pilgrim or Native American" comes off as blissfully clueless (pairing alcohol with Native Americans is so tasteful), across town — far from orange polyester and blankets filled with smallpox — there's a whole other side to the world of inebriation: The Santa Monica Hacker Drinkup. A self-avowed "social gathering for antisocial computer users," you're urged to bring your soldering iron and bond with people whom you'd ordinarily have nothing to do with ... until the booze starts flowing and suddenly you get off your incredible power trip and actually be friendly for once.
