Now that the Olympics are over and we're all seasoned judges of synchronized diving and beach volleyball, we can apply our new expertise on the local level. Bring a chair and look serious as you watch the Manhattan Beach Open, part of the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series. Did you know that Manhattan Beach is home to the Volleyball Walk of Fame? Well, it is. As you watch such hotshot teams as Whitney Pavlik and Jenny Kropp or John Hyden and Sean Scott, make sure you loudly criticize each "chicken wing" (when a player makes a desperate dig using just one arm, bent like a chicken wing) and "fish" (when a player violates play by touching the net).
