They can't fetch. They can't lead the blind. They can't fight crime. And if you fell down a well, they couldn't call for help. But no doubt you've lowered your work productivity watching countless clips of "The Keyboard Cat," "Nora the Piano Cat," "Surprised Kitty" or any of the other famous furballs on YouTube. Cinefamily's The Feline Gaze: The Art of the Cat Film takes the viral experience out of the cubicle and into the theater, screening dozens of videos dedicated to man's best frenemy, including CatCam, a SXSW-winning documentary short on a South Carolina pet owner who straps a camera on his wandering, outdoor cat, Mr. Lee. Also in attendance is Katie Hill, who'll discuss the inaugural, upcoming Internet Cat Video Festival in Minneapolis, which screens more feline films divided into such categories as comedy, foreign, documentary and "People's Choice." Good luck finding a purr-fect outfit that isn't covered in cat hair. Cinefamily, 611 N. Fairfax Ave.; Sat., Aug. 25, 1 p.m.; $12; (323) 655-2510, cinefamily.org.
