More About

A century is a long time for anything to be left standing -- especially in Los Angeles -- and now that the Palace Theatre downtown is on the eve of its 101st birthday, the Los Angeles Historical Theatre Foundation presents "All About the Palace Theatre." Tireless champions of the downtown Theatre District, the LAHTF plans a whopper of a celebration. Some history: In the first half of 2011, the Palace closed its doors for renovations that revealed the faded jewel of a theater hiding beneath decades of alterations and daily damage. Palace co-owner Shahram Delijani and contractor Ed Kelsey will discuss the events of those six months of toil, joined by the artisans and restoration experts who are breathing new life into the Palace. There's also a behind-the-scenes tour that will take you from the basement to the balconies (including the one reserved for minorities in the early part of the Palace's life), unveiling every facet of this godly gem standing proudly in our midst. What a morning! Palace Theatre, 630 S. Broadway, dwntwn.; Sat., July 14, 10:30 a.m.; $10. (213) 999-5067, lahtf.org.
Sat., July 14, 10:30 a.m., 2012
