El Cid

Choreographer Cid Pearlman had established her credentials on the competitive San Francisco dance scene before she relocated to L.A. in 1999 and made her mark locally with her modern dance troupe Nesting Dolls and with collaborative endeavors such as the still-running monthly salon "Max 10." Several years ago, she left L.A. for Santa Cruz, but she's back, briefly. Pearlman's dances always reflected a keen intelligence that undoubtedly helped her nab the coveted Fullbright scholarship that took her to Estonia. She returned to the U.S. with some of the Estonian dancers and choreographers she worked with during that year. This L.A. performance concludes a three-city tour of Cid Pearlman Projects' "To Estonia With Love" featuring works developed in Estonia and performed by U.S. and Estonian dancers. The program includes Pearlman's This Is What We Do in Winterwith an original score from Jonathan Segal, how quickly these accidents a U.S./Estonia collaboration between Alexis Steeves (U.S.) and Rain Saukas (Estonia), and Facing Forest from Estonians Tiina Mölder and Helen Reitsnik.
