Shedding Light on the Dark Side

Radiolab, the program produced by New York public radio station WNYC, touches down tonight with Radiolab Live: In the Dark, a multimedia mediation on what it means to truly "see." Hosts Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich collaborate onstage with a cadre of creators — "Important Things" humorist Demetri Martin; modern athlete-dancer troupe Pilobolus; and, creating live sound, musician Thao Nguyen. Among the stories that illustrate their point: an astronaut's peril during a walk in space, where no one can hear you say, "Do you have something in a dark black?"; the experience of two blind men (who probably don't dream in color); and the evolution of the eye. Expect all the expansive, illuminating warmth you've come to know and love from public radio as Radiolab takes the stage — with only a fraction of the pledge-driven guilt. Royce Hall, UCLA, 10745 Dickson Plaza, Wstwd.; Tues., May 8, 8 p.m.; also May 9 & 10, $23-$50. (310) 825-2101, uclalive.org.
Tue., May 8, 8 p.m.; Wed., May 9, 8 p.m.; Thu., May 10, 8 p.m., 2012
