Architectural porn has become a mainstay for Los Angeles fundraisers where home tours often feature orgasmically decadent interiors that are less about innovative, smart design and more about fantasy lifestyle and that bulge in the owner's wallet. Few attendees are interested in forking over dollars to see where some of architects' most brilliant work occurs: affordable housing spaces. Ironically, the city's architecture museum, A+D, breaks the trend with its 2012 benefit "Celebrate: The Wearable." Clothing that merges fashion, architecture and technology will cruise the evening's runway. Bidders can drop cash on anything from an incandescent red headpiece by Predock_Frane Architects, stars of the last psychedelic GLOW installation in Santa Monica, to the more restrained contribution of Getty Museum architect Richard Meier. His colorful print lining (pictured)hides within a men's jacket in the architect's signature white. There are dazzling dresses, simple Ts (though the latter comes via Neil Denari whose international oeuvre includes interiors for a Japanese airline) and everything in between. Simply ogle or let the food and booze loosen your wad. A+D Museum, 6032 Wilshire Blvd.; Sat., March 10, 7-11 p.m.; $95 per ticket, two for $175, students $50. (323) 932-9393, aplusd.org
