She's nicer than Sandra Bernhard and funnier than Rosie O'Donnell, and this month daytime TV's biggest gay icon, Ellen DeGeneres, is turning 54. After hosting last year's show in Miami, Florida poet Renda Writer is bringing the 2nd Annual Ellen Art Show out west, featuring more than 50 local and national artists paying tribute to the talk show queen and Cover Girl. (Writer has been campaigning for five years to get on DeGeneres' show, even gathering more than 1,000 signatures for his written and online petitions.) Works in various media range from sculpture to paintings of DeGeneres as Venus de Milo as well as with her lady love, Portia de Rossi, and animated alter ego Dory from Finding Nemo. Some proceeds benefit the Trevor Project, a West Hollywood nonprofit that provides suicide-prevention services to the LGBT community. Not since Diane Keaton in Annie Hall has a lady in a pantsuit inspired so much art. Terrell Moore Gallery, 1221 S. Hope St., dwntwn.; Sat., Jan. 28, 6 p.m.-2 a.m.; $5 suggested donation.
