More About

Ring in the Year of the Dragon at the Oshogatsu Family Festival, which celebrates the Japanese New Year. Traditionally, family activities are the order of the day for this weeklong holiday, so the Japanese American National Museum is providing ample opportunities for familial bonding centered around the designated fire-breathing beast of the year: There'll be stations for making dragon streamers, dragon origami, dragon candy, dragon murals, dragon balloon hats, and even a chance to meet a dragon (costumed) and do some slaying. Highlighting the event is an onigiri-making (rice ball) contest for kids and adults with prizes for Most Humorous, Original, Cool and Happy.
Sun., Jan. 8, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2012
