I was gratified to see that mention was made of a screening of Michael Snow's seminal experimental film WAVELENGTH (Wavelength of Mutilation, Nov.18). Still, I was astounded that Scott Foundas has either never seen the film or forgotten it completely. WAVELENGTH is certainly known as "that movie with a single 45 minute zoom shot". Only problem is, that anybody who watched it (and knew anything about film production) can spot several different spots in the movie where there are cuts in the "single" shot. The myth has been repeated so often over the past 40+ years that it is taken as fact. It is worth noting that despite the myth, WAVELENGTH is very much worth seeing and experiencing in a theater. Snow is very creative and innovative with editing, camera work and soundscape.
