Tonight's the final night to catch Littlerock, Mike Ott's award-winning fresh take on the California road-trip indie, at the Sunset 5.

Sat., Sept. 10

This month's installment of Film Journeys at the Echo Park Film Center features Philippe Grandrieux's Un Lac (The Lake), a dark (often literally — Grandrieux's cinematography is intentionally stark and dimly lit) study of the triangle between a farm boy, his sister and a visitor. (8 p.m.)

Sun., Sept. 11

The Beau Bridges double feature at the Aero offers a chance to revisit Hal Ashby's essential 1970 debut, The Landlord, in which Bridges buys a Brooklyn townhouse entirely rented to black people, with the intention of evicting them; dark socially conscious comedy ensues. Bridges will be there to chat after Ashby's movie and before a screening of The Fabulous Baker Boys, starring Beau and brother Jeff. (7:30 p.m.)

In polar-opposite counterprogramming across town, at 6:30 Cinefamily presents a double bill of Peanuts features, screened on 35 mm. The specific titles are to be announced; here's hoping Snoopy Come Home is in the mix. Bring Kleenex just in case.

Tues., Sept. 13

USC's Outside the Box Office series hosts previews of two upcoming indies tonight. Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure, a documentary investigation into the backstory of a found footage meme à la Winnebago Man, screens at 7 p.m., and Tom Tykwer's threesome flick 3 follows at 8:40. Both films are free with reservation at cinema.usc.edu/events.
