The Arbor, my current choice for the best documentary of the year, concludes a one-week run at the Fallbrook in West Hills tonight. It's also the last chance to see another essential nonfiction film, Steve James' The Interrupters, at the Nuart, while John Sayles' Amigo wraps its run at the Monica.

DocuWeeks enters its final, uh, week today at the Sunset 5. A highlight of the last batch of offerings is Danfung Dennis' Afghanistan vet doc Hell and Back Again, which won two prizes in January at Sundance.

Cinefamily launches a series of coming-of-age films tonight with a 35 mm print of Maurice Pialat's debut feature, L'Enfance nue (Naked Childhood), at 7:30 p.m. at the Silent Movie Theatre.

The Aero has brought back Thom Anderson's found-footage epic Los Angeles Plays Itself for one of its periodic runs, tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Anderson will appear in person at Sunday night's screening.

Mon., Sept. 5

Today's the last day to catch Eric Rohmer's Le Rayon Vert, which hopped to the Town Center in Encino earlier this week, and concludes its run there and at the Claremont at 11 a.m. today.

Tues., Sept. 6

Enjoy one last, post–Labor Day gasp of summer this afternoon at LACMA, with a matinee of that monument to shirtless William Holden, Picnic. —Karina Longworth
