More About

Fans of the Coen brothers are a unique and quirky bunch. Kind of like Rocky Horror Picture Show repeaters, Coen cult followers know every bit, every scene, every bon mot from their dark film comedies such as The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo and Intolerable Cruelty. So it stands to reason that there is finally a musical (yes, musical) show devoted to their films' songs and iconic scenes. "For the Record: The Coen Bros." is a wacky, 360-degree, cabaret-style production with a winning ensemble that showcases tunes like "Tammy," "Up, Up and Away," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose," "Po Lazarus," "Oh Danny Boy," "Habanera" and other seemingly bizarre and inappropriate songs that popped up onscreen. This is not the group's first venture into directors' films not known for soundtracks: They've already covered the films of Quentin Tarantino, Baz Luhrmann and John Hughes. But it may be the best. BTW: It's a supper club, so eat in!
Thursdays-Saturdays, 9 p.m. Starts: July 21. Continues through Sept. 24, 2011
