Who Could Ask for Anything Más?

Thursday, Aug 18 2011
Non-Latino Angelenos like to think they understand Latino culture because they listen to the music of Poncho Sanchez, eat at Border Grill and managed to snooze through a couple years of unusable Spanish in high school. Skip the next mariachi fest and get down to the heart and soul and blood and guts of the culture at "Latino Night" at the Laugh Factory. The jokes might touch on expected urban-oriented topics like bouncy cars, hot mamas and gabachos, but they also will provide valuable insight into Latinos' perspectives on politics, relationships and family life. Hosting the show is Nuyorican Joey Medina, a former boxing champ who's known about town as the Latin King of Comedy. Medina honed his skills entertaining U.S. troops during wartime in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait and Iraq as well as performing for heavily intoxicated and dangerous crowds in this country's clubs, casinos and theaters. Check schedule for additional performers.
Mondays, 8 p.m.; Mon., Feb. 25, 8 p.m.; Mon., March 25, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 7. Continues through Feb. 11, 2008
