Your Weekly Movie To-Do List

Thurs., July 28

Christian Marclay's 24-hour film The Clock, recently acquired by LACMA, screens in full at the museum starting at 5 p.m. today.

Tree of Life ends its run at the Pasadena Playhouse today, as does Project Nim. The latter, James Marsh's documentary, moves to the Claremont 5 this weekend, leaving the Sunset 5, the Playhouse 7 and the Town Center 5 behind.

Sat., July 30

Herbert Blaché's never-released sensationalist study of dual-personality disorder, The Untameable (1932), starring Gladys Walton as a virtuous lady/whip-wielding sadist and Etta Lee as her devoted lesbian maid, plays at the Egyptian Theatre at 7 p.m.

Sun., July 31

The Boy Friend, Ken Russell's 1971 adaptation of Sandy Wilson's 1953 musical, screens at the Aero at 5:30 p.m.. The play-within-a-film features British supermodel Twiggy as the assistant stage manager who must go on for the star of the show, with the help of Tommy Tune. Production designer Tony Walton will discuss the movie afterwards with Art Directors Guild president Thomas A. Walsh.

At 7:30 p.m., independent animator Jodie Mack, whose work weaves together simple cutout shapes, dialogue and song to create lively explorations of everyday phenomena, will screen videos and do a Q&A at Filmforum.

Mon., Aug. 1

Cinefamily presents a free sneak preview of Bellflower, Evan Glodell's dark debut feature, which caused a stir at SXSW and Sundance, at 8 p.m. at the Silent Movie Theatre. Tickets are first come, first served, and registration is required. Sign up at Cinefamily's website.
