Street Art's Five-Year Plan This week Culver City's Corey Helford Gallery turns 5, and throws itself a party. Most of the nearly 60 artists in Zero to Sixty do or will show with CHG, which has distinguished itself in 60 short months (five is like 50 in gallery years) as one of the most popular and successful purveyors of street-friendly fine art on the scene. These days, staying in business is reason enough to celebrate, but CHG has done more than stay afloat -- it has flourished, doing maybe more than any other single gallery to advance the global cause of contemporary street art and the dark, romantic side of Pop. CHG excels at mixing new talents with big names like Gary Baseman, Buff Monster, Natalia Fabia, Eric Joyner, D*Face, Van Arno, Chris Anthony, Brandi Milne, Ron English and Hush in mammoth projects that reach beyond its stable to reflect a broader, extended-family zeitgeist. Each of the artists made a new piece for the occasion, so expect more than just a fantastic, good-looking-people party -- it's also a show of work so new and fresh some of it may still be wet. It's up for only about a week, because they've got to clear the decks for COOP on July 16, so don't dawdle.
