He's Mighty Mighty

In 1974, young Max Weinberg saw a classified ad for a drummer in The Village Voice (it used to be cool) that said, "No junior Ginger Bakers." Turns out, Weinberg was just what Bruce Springsteen was looking for, and he's sat behind the kit in the E Street Band for nearly 40 years (minus a little breakup, but that's to be expected). From his early years with Springsteen to his later chapter leading the Max Weinberg 7 on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Weinberg certainly will have much to share when he joins Grammy Museum executive director Bob Santelli, with whom he co-wrote The Big Beat (Conversations With Rock's Greatest Drummers). Santelli tells us, "Max and I had known each other for more than 25 years when I teamed up with him to write his book. He has a photographic memory and the mind of a music historian. The friendship we share ought to make for one of the more interesting conversations to occur on the Clive Davis stage."
