L.A. alt-folk quartet Dawes turned heads with their 2009 album North Hills. One of those heads belonged to Robbie Robertson, which led to the band backing the Band's former guitarist and songwriter for a variety of promo and festival gigs. Dawes drew, in part from that experience when recording and arranging their new album, Nothing Is Wrong, out June 7. An album rich with their signature harmonies, it lopes along with shuffling country-rock rhythms on slower songs like "So Well" and draws from classic American rock & roll riffs on faster tracks like "Fire Away." The band has grown since North Hills, but their folk-rock roots remain strong. The boys are ramblin' men, though — they've been on the road with Middle Brother (which is made up of Taylor and Griffin from Dawes, plus the frontmen from Deer Tick and Delta Spirit) and they have even supported Robertson on a few TV appearances. They land back in L.A. with a proper homecoming show on June 18 at the Orpheum. Go let 'em know they're still family.
