Make Out, Little Susie

Susie Bright is the Emma Goldman of our time, a fearless left-wing troublemaker who celebrates sexuality as yet another front where human beings can reclaim freedom to pursue their desires. Her new memoir, Big Sex, Little Death, is a brash, racy romp through her '60s childhood, sexual experimentation and labor and antiracist political activism and pinko reportorial baptism with commie rag The Red Tide. Eventually Bright became a colorful proponent of sex-positive feminism and co-edited On Our Backs, the explicit erotica magazine for women that upset the squarer segments of Women's Lib. Known by many as a lesbian, she's been in a long-term relationship with a man and has raised a daughter with lessons learned from years of self-revelation — some of the most interesting sections of this fascinating remembrance. A very funny dame, Bright will read tonight and share a life well lived — and well loved — with all present.
