More About
The Golem was a mythical creature originally summoned from the dust by Jewish mysticism to become a hulking mud monster that protected the Prague ghetto in the 16th century. Generations later, its mythos and image translated beautifully to expressionist cinema a la The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Svengali. Now, Club Foot Orchestra adds its musical thumbprint to the finer points of director Paul Wegener's 1920 silent horror masterpiece The Golem: How He Came Into the World, the only surviving film of the three Wegener, who also plays the Golem, made about the creature. Club Foot Orchestra Sheldon Brown, founder Richard Marriott and Alisa Rose (RIP, Richard Kelly) mixes in elements of Hebraic and classical music and horror soundtrack themes to create an entirely new face for this ever-malleable monster movie warhorse.
