CHICKS WHO INK (HBO DEALS)

In 1997, HBO introduced the world to the raucous musical stylings of Tenacious D's Jack Blackand Kyle Gass. Ten years later, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie got their nerd-rock on as Kiwi bumblers Flight of the Conchords. And now with last month's announcement that L.A.'s Garfunkel & Oates had signed a development deal with HBO, hearty doses of ukulele and kazoo may soon be a part of the cable tastemaker's musical-comedy offerings. Combining quick-witted lyrics with self-deprecating narrative and upbeat tunes, Riki Lindhome (the tall one) and Kate Micucci (the one "from the future") have for the past two years found art in the socially awkward, from their debut at Melrose Avenue's Fake Gallery to four appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. EP Music Songs is currently available and the full-length All Over Your Face is on the way; G&O headline Largo this week with special guest Reggie Watts.
