Do you know anyone who's not in favor of marriage equality? Though they probably are not reading this paper, there are still those who oppose gay marriage. Over the next several Monday nights, Largo at the Coronet is the place for Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. The collection is the brainchild of director Brian Shnipper, who conceived "these evenings of new provocative plays that were created in response to the ongoing battle for marriage equality throughout the United States." Written by Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moisés Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy McLeod, Kathy Najimy, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright, the shorts tackle gay marriage from a variety of viewpoints, and might even change a few homophobic minds along the way. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd.; Mon., Jan. 17-Feb. 7, 8 p.m.; $25, performances benefit marriage-equality organizations.
Mon., Dec. 6, 8 p.m.; Mondays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Feb. 7, 2010
