Mick Rock

Photographer Mick Rock has rightly been called "the man who shot the '70s," namely the glam era's biggest and brightest: Think the holy trinity of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed from 1972, not to mention some of music's greatest album covers, including Pop's Raw Power, Reed's Transformer, Queen's Queen II and the Ramones' End of the Century. Confederacy, the Los Feliz art gallery/boutique co-owned by actor Danny Masterson, celebrates the release of Rock's Mick Rock Exposed: The Faces of Rock 'n' Roll. Having published some half-dozen photo books over the years, Rock's latest (featuring a foreword by playwright Tom Stoppard and an afterword by former Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham), includes more images of both vintage and new bands — from the Stones, Syd Barrett, Blondie, Joan Jett and U2 to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Daft Punk and Alicia Keys -- coupled with such non-music celebs as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Kate Moss and Jimmy Fallon. Exhibit through March 1st.
Jan. 4-March 1, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., 2011
