Let it Snow!

Sure, every New Year's Day in Pasadena, temps seem to hit 90-plus degrees, and those Midwesterners trapped by mounds of snow watching their teams get trounced figure it's the only place to live if they're going to escape the shovels and ice scrapers. But just a few streets away, the folks at the Kidspace Children's Museum don't give soaring temps a second thought, as they "import" 30 tons of snow (probably from the Midwest) for their celebration of all things flakey: Snow Days! SoCal kiddies will truly get what their transplanted Midwestern and East Coast munchkin pals know practically from birth: just the right angle from which to dive into a snowbank; how to make a snow angel full of grace; the perfectly proportioned and stacked snowman; and expertly formed snowballs that pack some punch. Yep, it's mounds o' snow, without the howling winds and ice storms! The kids can take their fun inside for tips on the fine art of winter crafts, including snowflake making, cookie decorating and pine cone ornament making. This isn't simply a day of fluff, as staffers explain just how nature creates the white stuff. So buy your children mittens, caps and jackets and head over to the museum's winter wonderland. Because at the Rose Bowl, everyone'll be peeling down to T-shirts and shorts, with nary a flake in sight. Unless we're talking the Doo Dah Parade....
