Though she would go on to win an Oscar for Lili two years later, it was 1951's An American in Paris — one of the greatest movie musicals of all time, right behind Gene Kelly's own Singin' in the Rain — that made Leslie Caron a star. A ballet dancer in post-WWII France, Caron was plucked from obscurity by Kelly for the Vincent Minnelli-directed story of a struggling painter trying to woo a French girl from her fiancee, featuring the Gershwins memorable score and accompanying songs, including "I Got Rhythm," "Embraceable You" and "Our Love Is Here To Stay." Following this screening, Caron appears to discuss the making of the film, as well as sign her recent memoir, Thank Heaven, in which she also recounts working with Minnelli (again, for Gigi in 1958), Fred Astaire, Cary Grant and Jean Renoir, her three marriages and romance with Warren Beatty.
