More About
He's our columnist and we'll toot his horn if we want to. Renaissance man Henry Rollins Black Flag singer, DJ, actor, world traveler once again takes the stage. This time, he forgoes his spoken-word rants for a live version of his KCRW show. It's a real treat for "fanatics" who still marvel at getting to hear everything from the Misfits to John Coltrane to Tuvan throat singers in the same two-hour time slot. And for "Henry Rollins: Rare Cuts and Conversations," L.A. Weekly's new scribe turns the Echoplex into his living room, focusing on never-before-played music (either too crass for sophisticated KCRW listeners or "due to the rare nature of the material") accompanied by Rollins' usual record-store-and-road stories.
