THERE'S NO ACCOUNTING FOR TASTE

"Real men," as National Lampoon once so sagely declared, "don't eat quiche. They eat shit. Every day of their lives -- and believe me, the taste isn't improving any." Let Them Eat LACMA -- the culmination of the year-long EATLACMA meditation on the intersection of food and art and politics -- is a welcome break from those burdens of mankind, by which you'll experience 50 (count 'em) artists' meditations on food. Curated by the Fallen Fruit arts collective and Claremont Graduate Kyra Saegusa, throughout the exhibit you'll witness tomato fights, watermelon eating contests, and a tasting platter of food for California prison inmates. You lucky free person you! Some of the artists include '70s singer Ronee Blakley, actresses Karen Black and Ann Magnuson, notorious sitomaniac Jonathan Gold, and experimentalists Jorge Martin, Yann Novak, and Kadet Kuhne -- all recontextualizing LACMA as a platter serving a kind of nourishment that's both intellectually and actually delectable.
