Dance Club Pick: OAKYLIFT + DUBQUAKE

No idea why Paul Oakenfold's current DJ tour is called "Facelift," but the lineup does include some fresh faces (for its stop at L.A.'s Music Box, supporting spinners include Dutch dance man Chuckie and local fave Zen Freeman), and Oaky does always provide uplifting, crowd-pleasing floor pumping with pop appeal (also see him at Cypress Hill's Smokeout on Saturday). 6126 Hollywood Blvd.; Fri., Oct. 15. tmbhollywood.com. One of our favorite hangouts, Hang The DJs, celebrates its seven-year anniversary with a costume party, live set from the Warlocks and, of course, plenty of dancing to DJs, including Woolfy (DFA Records), Aaron Castle, Dan (Cosmic Kids) and Kim Ahn & Anon (Booby Trap). The Lacy Warehouse, 2662 Lacy St., L.A.; Sat., Oct. 16. If you missed the Dub Club's 10-year anniversary this summer, it has an even bigger, better powwow this weekend: Dubquake, featuring a ton of performers (returning to reggae rager: Sister Nancy and Tippa Lee) and DJs, plus headliners Michael Rose, Scientist & Roots Radic band, the Heptones, Stone Love and Peanutbutter Wolf. The parking lot at the Echo also will have vendors and food trucks. See dubquake.com for the lineup and note that the Plex's previously scheduled club, Bootie LA, moves to Spaceland for one night only. 1154 Glendale Blvd., L.A.; Sat.-Sun., Oct. 16-17.
