HOW HIP-HOP ARE YOU?

Street dance and hip-hop have left the neighborhood and gone Hollywood -- Hollywood Hills that is -- as the J.U.i.C.E. Hip-Hop Dance Festival returns to the hillside environs of the Cahuenga Pass. In 2007, choreographers Amy "Catfox" Campion and Jacob "Kujo" Lyons opened the first of what has become an annual summer sell-out concert showcasing the array of styles that fall under the umbrella category of street dance or hip-hop blending professional dancers recognizable from film and television with neighborhood crews. This year's edition marks the first international participation with dancers from Japan and Canada as well as showcasing the newest style, "jerking," which emerged from L.A. high schools. The pre-show festivities include a preliminary "jerking" competition, with the finalists vying at intermission for bragging rights, until the next newer moves come along. At the Ford Amphitheater, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hlywd.; Sat., Oct. 2,8 p.m.; $25; $12 children. (323) 461-3673, fordtheatres.org. --Ann Haskins
