LOVERS AND OTHER DAILY SHOW CORRESPONDENTS

Some people you look at and you never know if they're either hotbeds of inescapable sexuality or sad water beds of floppiness. Comedian Kristen Schaal — that criminally underused, wide-eyed Bernadette Peters analog from The Daily Show — discusses and signs The Sexy Book of Sexy Sex ($24.95, Chronicle Books). Despite an admitted desire to write the book under a pseudonym because she didn't want anyone to imagine her doing "those things" — Schaal writes about herself and partner/fellow Daily Show scribbler Rich Blomquist engaging in heated discussion about all things S-E-X. The logical extension to a book like that is a book signing like this; if you keep telling everyone you're a great lover — and, let's face it, writing a book about your sex life doesn't exactly scream humility — ultimately you're going to have someone come up to you and say, "Hey, I hear you're a great lover." Which is a rather crass thing to say to a woman without her co-author present, but in point of fact it is in fact what everyone's thinking tonight.
