DEAD MEN IN TIGHTS

You're a nonconformist. "Life is short," you often tell yourself, "why go with the herd?" So you decide to do something on this lazy, hazy Tuesday afternoon that wouldn't cross the minds of most people: You're going to watch a movie! A good movie, a classic. And not one on video, either, but in an actual theater. In fact, the highest-quality movie theater that Los Angeles has to offer. And you don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg for this experience. So you call up some friends who are in tune with your eccentric, creative spirit, and -- paying two bucks per person (yes, you read that correctly) -- you all go to see The Adventures of Robin Hood. There have been a forest full of Robin Hood movies over the years, but hands down, the most memorable and entertaining version is the one from 1938 playing this afternoon. Starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone and Claude Rains, the movie won three Academy Awards. If you desire rousing fun -- old-time Hollywood style -- it's a must-see. Everyone else can go lie on the beach.
