BUDDY CAN YOU SPARE A DIME?

Ryan Murphy doesn't sit around watching paint dry. Twenty-odd years ago, as a fresh-faced intern at the venerable L.A. Style magazine, Murphy lasted all of three days -- not because he couldn't handle the Xeroxing but because he'd nabbed an entry-level position at Paramount -- and he was outta there. L.A. Style eventually folded, leaving its editors in the dust, but they still wistfully remember his short-term presence and tracked his rocket-propelled career as producer, director and oftentimes writer of TV shows and films, including Nip/Tuck, Running With Scissors, Glee and soon, Eat, Pray, Love. His wacky, sometimes corny and often-perverse take on life has earned him a reputation as a risk-taker in a risk-averse biz and rewarded him with astounding success. Hear him tell the tale at The Paley Center for Media Presents Inside the Writers Room: Glee along with co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Perhaps he could give a job to an old L.A. Style editor who remembers him fondly?
