Hey, you! Don't watch that watch this! This time, the nuttiest sound is that of nostalgia crashing through the seashell of experience as author Mike Pearson signs his memoir, One Step Beyond. The book is a chronicle of what it was like to be a teenager on the Westside during those heady days between the Me Generation '70s and the Teflon '80s. It's all there: the Hessians, new wavers, punks, dorks, sluts, buttheads and other recreational miscreants. Pearson's essentially positive memories of his role as an artist and musician loom large from a time that really only finally faded when they painted over punk band The Last's graffiti on the Vons at PCH and Sunset. The book serves, at the very least, as a breath of fresh air after smoggy chaos much like a ride down the Coast Highway itself
