GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING ... ON THE HEAVENLY SPIRITUAL POWER OF EARTHLY LOVE

If you love gas fumes, thunderous engines and overhead cams (whatever those are), your loudest event option this week is surely the ear-splitting Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Non-Earth haters can opt for the peaceful easy-feelingness of Topanga Canyon's 11th Annual Topanga Earth Day Festival . Organizers are proud to announce it's a "90 percent waste-free event." You can trudge up the hill to the site, or take a biodiesel-powered shuttle made by Bio Beetle. Then you can enjoy guest speakers on sustainable and holistic-living solutions, a healing village and ecological vendors. Each day starts with the traditional bhakti yogic practice of India. Music is of the soothing yet uplifting variety, with performances by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Luis Conte, Leon Mobley and Da Lion and Marc Ford. Although the Grand Prix of Long Beach does feature Cheap Trick. Maybe we should rethink this one. Topanga Community House Fairgrouds, 1440 N.
