Charles Beaumont, the prolific writer of speculative fiction who died in 1967 at age 38, gets overdue kudos in director Jason Brock’s documentary Charles Beaumont: The Short Life of Twilight Zone’s Magic Man. Best known as a scriptwriter of classic Twilight Zone episodes (including “The Howling Man,” “ Miniature,” “Person or Persons Unknown” and “Number 12 Looks Just Like You”), Beaumont also authored countless short stories, novels and screenplays. Two of those films, 1962’s The Intruder(a.k.a. Shame, a.k.a. I Hate Your Guts!), starring William Shatner and directed by Roger Corman, and horror flick Burn, Witch, Burn (a.k.a. Night of the Eagle), screen following the documentary and panel discussion. Among the writer’s legendary contemporaries scheduled to pay tribute in person: Ray Bradbury, George Clayton Johnson, William F. Nolan, John Tomerlin and Richard Matheson.
