VAMPIRE WEEKEND

As vampire book-to-movie phenoms go, there hasn’t been anything anything like Twilightsince Interview with the Vampire– discofied Dracula Frank Langella notwithstanding. The popularity of the Stephenie Meyer vampire opus has dovetailed seamlessly with the conventions of modern fan conventions, so the Official Twilight Convention crystallizes the vampire essence eloquently into the 21st century. Who'll be there? Actor Peter Facinelli (pictured), who plays HVIC (head vampire in charge) Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Kellan Lutz, who plays his foster son Emmett Cullen; plus Alex Meraz Chaske Spencer and Kiowa Gordon, the dire wolves of New Moon, and the vaguely sketched-out co-stars of both movies, who, when recognized in the real, mundane world, always elicit a reaction somewhere between a half-squeal of devotion and a puzzled look of almost-deja-vu. Also: exclusive interviews of all the stars who couldn't make it, karaoke (!), and The Hillywood Show, a New Moon comedy troupe. It'll be an early day throughout the weekend -- so get there early, no matter how badly the sun burns away that ecstatic flesh of yours.
Fri., March 12, 8 a.m.; Sat., March 13, 8 a.m.; Sun., March 14, 8 a.m., 2010
