MARY TALES

Every so often, a writer gets one hit that transcends his own existence and lives on. As part of the Hammer Museum’s New American Writing salon , Mary Gaitskill, who authored the eponymous short story that became the film Secretary, will discuss her work. She’ll also be on hand to talk about her 2009 anthology, Don’t Cry , as well as her literary contributions in The New Yorker and Harper’s , but the themes of voyeurism and control that appeared in the film Secretary will most likely drive tonight’s discussion. Otis College creative writing professor Benjamin Weissman is a featured speaker.
